VTU 1

VTU 1 is a caring and active classroom where young adults learn important life skills to help them live more independently and confidently. The class teacher is Mr Daly, with support from classroom assistants Caroline and Sarah.

Our focus is on helping pupils build self-confidence, understand and express their emotions, and learn how to work well with others. 

Each week, we take part in:

• Yoga on Mondays, which helps with relaxation, focus, and emotional wellbeing.
• Café Programme, where pupils work together to make and serve snacks to other classes.
• Mobile Deli, where pupils shop for ingredients, take lunch orders from staff, and prepare meals.
• Gym at the Orchard Leisure Centre, where pupils complete a structured workout to improve general fitness and independent living skills.
  
  

One of the most exciting parts of the year is the Young Enterprise Trade Fair at Rushmere Shopping Centre. Pupils design and make a product, then sell it at the fair—learning about teamwork, creativity, and business skills.

VTU 1 is a place where students grow, learn real-world skills, and feel proud of what they achieve.
