Class 6

February update:
It is hard to believe we have already reached the February mid term break. We returned after Christmas to begin our new term and introduced our topic, Arctic Explorers and Oceans. The weather certainly suited our theme during those first few weeks.
In Numeracy, the children learned about measurement, including the concepts of big and small, tall and short, and heavy and light. Some pupils also began working with centimetres. In Literacy, we continued developing our phonics and core words. We enjoyed stories such as Jack Frost, The Runaway Iceberg, Guess How Much I Love You, and many others.
We explored a range of Arctic animals, including polar bears, seals, and whales, and learned about Arctic weather. The pupils engaged in sensory play with ice through sensory bins and tuff trays, and we created a variety of winter themed art.
We also celebrated Chinese New Year by reading about its origins and creating lanterns and horses, as this year is the Year of the Horse. In addition, the children produced lovely Valentine’s artwork through both sensory activities and cookery.
Our learning this term also included an introduction to the Vikings—where they came from, how they lived, and the boats they used. The pupils made Viking shields and swords and even wrote their names using Viking symbols.
We enjoyed our final week of term celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week doing a range of activities like yoga, mindfulness, nature walks, and relaxation techniques.
We are now looking forward to a well deserved mid term break.

Class 6 Feb update

Welcome to Class 6

Hello and welcome to our class blog! We’re excited to share a little bit about who we are and what makes our classroom so special. We are a small but mighty class in Lisanally where learning is tailored to meet the unique needs of every student. Our class is made up of five amazing girls and three brilliant boys, each bringing their own personality, strengths, and smiles to our learning space every day.

The teacher is Mrs Kennedy, who hopes to bring warmth, creativity, and dedication to everything we do. We want to make learning fun and help the boys and girls grow in confidence and independence. Supporting us every day are our fantastic classroom assistants:

  • Fiona – always ready with a helping hand and a kind word
  • Clara – full of energy and great ideas
  • Alisha – calm, caring, and super organised
  • Emer – cheerful, encouraging, and always up for a challenge

Together, we make a great team! Our classroom is a place where everyone is valued, learning is celebrated, and kindness is at the heart of everything we do.Our days are filled with fun, learning, and creativity! Here are just a few of the activities we enjoy:

  • Sensory Play: We love exploring textures, sounds, and colours through sensory bins, water play, and messy art. It helps us relax, focus, and express ourselves.
  • Outdoor Adventures: Whether it’s gardening, nature walks, or playing games in the fresh air, we make the most of our outdoor space.
  • Music and Movement: Singing, dancing, and playing instruments are a big part of our week. It’s a joyful way to build confidence and coordination.
  • Story Time: We dive into books together, using props, puppets, and drama to bring stories to life.
  • Life Skills: We practice important everyday skills like cooking, cleaning, and taking care of ourselves in fun and practical ways.
  • Creative Arts: Painting, crafting, and building with different materials help us express our ideas and develop fine motor skills.
  • Celebrations and Themes: We love celebrating birthdays, holidays, and special events. Each term we explore exciting themes like animals, space, or seasons.

We’re proud of everything we do and can’t wait to share more of our adventures with you. Keep checking back for updates, photos, and stories from our amazing class!
